This work focus on the term “asylum seeker.” Interestingly, although Syrian asylum seekers have sought refuge in Turkey, they have not been given the status of “refugee.” Why this has happened and its effect on the construction of identity as well as in the labor market will be discussed in this work. One of the fundamental reasons why those who come to Turkey seek refuge but cannot find it, why millions cannot take advantage of refugee status, and why they find themselves in the labor market as asylum seekers, can be found in the specific conditions in which the “immigrant identity” is constructed in Turkey.tr_TR
