    Exploring revictimization process among Turkish women: The role of early maladaptive schemas on the link between child abuse and partner violence

    The purpose of the current study is to explore the revictimization process between child abuse and neglect (CAN), and intimate partner violence (IPV) based on the schema theory perspective. For this aim, 222 married women recruited in four central cities of Turkey participated in the study. Results indicated that early negative CAN experiences increased the risk of being exposed to later IPV. Specifically, emotional abuse and sexual abuse in the childhood predicted the four subtypes of IPV, which are physical, psychological, and sexual violence, and injury, while physical abuse only associated with physical violence. To explore the mediational role of early maladaptive schemas (EMSs) on this association, first, five schema domains were tested via Parallel Multiple Mediation Model. Results indicated that only Disconnection/Rejection (D/R) schema domains mediated the association between CAN andIPV. Second,todetermine theparticularmediational roles of eachschema, eighteen EMS were tested as mediators, and results showed that Emotional Deprivation Schema and Vulnerability to Harm or Illness Schema mediated the association between CAN and IPV. These findings provided an empirical support for the crucial roles of EMSs on the effect of revictimization process. Clinical implications were discussed.

    Lacan’ın özne kurulum yaklaşımına göre obsesyon nevrozu

    Obsesyon nevrozu, ilk olarak Freud tarafından içsel düşünceler ve bu düşünceleri engellemek amacıyla yapılan tekrarlı davranışlar olarak tanımlanmıştır. Lacan daha sonra bu terimi, kendisinin özne kurulumyaklaşımında bir yapı (structure) olarak kullanmıştır. Lacan’a göre özne (subject), farklı mekanizma ve yapıları içeren birkaç kimlik oluşum anında (moments) kurulmaktadır. Obsesyon nevrozu yapısının ayrışma (separation) anında oluştuğu belirtilir. Buna göre obsesyon nevrozu yapısı, ayrışma anında yaşanan kaygı ile baş etmeye çalışan Özne’nin Ötekini reddederek var olma biçimi ile ilişkilidir. Bu yazıda, obsesyon nevrozunun Ötekini reddetme, suçluluk, öfke ve kontrol gibi bazı özellikleri, Lacanyen özne kurulumyaklaşımı ile ele alınacaktır. Ayrıca, bir vaka örneği bu bağlamda değerlendirilecek, danışanın semptomları ile geçmiş örüntülerinin ilişkisine yer verilecektir. Yazının son bölümünde, vaka ile yürütülen terapi sürecinden örnekler Lacanyen analiz bağlamında değerlendirilecektir.

    Psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the acceptance and action questionnaire- II (AAQ-II)

    The aim of the study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II (AAQ-II). This instrument was designed to assess psychological inflexibility, a key construct in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The participants were 291 university students. The test-retest stage was conducted with 80 participants over a 2-month period. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) supported a one-factor model with seven items. Internal consistency was high (.88) and test-retest reliability was good (.78). Higher AAQ-II scores were associated with higher levels of depression, anxiety, and thought suppression supporting the concurrent and convergent validity. This study provides further evidence of the improvement shown by the 7-item version of the AAQ-II in terms of psychometric properties compared with the previous versions. Our results suggest that the Turkish version of the AAQ-II is a reliable and valid measure of psychological inflexibility.
